Wednesday, July 4th is the Toronto & East York Community Council (T&EYCC) meeting.
The Junction HCD and other supporters will be attending to oppose two redevelopment projects on the agenda — the Active Green + Ross property at 2639 Dundas Street West and five properties at 2720 Dundas Street West.
Both of these locations are situated at the gateway of our future Junction heritage district, and have the potential to reset precedent for other redevelopments in our neighbourhood if they are approved to proceed as proposed. The artistic image of 2639 Dundas Street West is deceptive, because each brick layer is actually two floors for a total of eight floors. Proposed for 2720 Dundas Street West is a nine-storey building that also exceeds the six-storey height applicable in our twenty-metre Character Area and both of these redevelopment projects ignore an appropriate cornice line step-back at the third-storey.
